LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 3.16 69 THIS IS AN ADVERTISEMENT Left to right: Kevin M. Norris, James U. Smith III, W. Kevin Smith, Oliver B. Rutherford, and Jacob W. Crouse SMITH & SMITH ATTORNEYS 200 South Fifth Street, Louisville, KY 40202 (502) 587-0761 | smithandsmithattorneys.com Smith & Smith Attorneys have been practicing Labor and Employment Law since 1946. We are a member of Worklaw Network ® , a network of management labor and employment law frms, with 34 offces and more than 350 lawyers throughout the United States and internationally. JOHN OLASH, CRIMINAL DEFENSE LAWYER 150 S. 3rd St., Louisville, KY 40202 | (502) 583-0037 | johnolashlaw@gmail.com John Olash I am thrilled to be a criminal defense lawyer. The privilege of defending someone against the virtually unlimited resources of the government is exhilarating. The Sixth Amendment to the U.S Constitution guarantees my job. John Adams and Abraham Lincoln were criminal defense lawyers. I get paid to write, read, talk and argue. I like standing next to the underdog. My 25-plus years of practice includes representing teachers, thieves, factory workers, salesman, addicts, marines, drug dealers, guilty people, innocent people, pilots, doctors and drunk drivers. My clients share the commonality of meeting me when they are at the low point of their life. The trust clients have in me is a great motivator. The unyielding unfairness of the system inspires me to fnd a way to help clients even when the case appears hopeless. Experiencing a client cry with joy as he hugs his family upon the announcement of a not-guilty verdict is the crème de la crème of a law practice. I am highly available to my clients. I realized early in my career that my best resource is usually my client. I listen to my client's story over and over and over as the pieces of the case come together. I remain mindful of sage advice often said by my dear friend and mentor Donald Heavrin: "God dwells in the details." A fact or issue which appears meaningless at the onset of a case can become the cornerstone for an acquittal as the case nears trial. If you want to speak with me, don't call my offce, call me on my cell phone: (502) 419-4384.
