Sara Pitt, 24 Favorite medium: "The medium is usually dependent on the piece. In the past, I've worked primarily with sculpture and installation, but recently I've become interested in digital work and the Internet." sara-pitt.com We just love the way she thinks. Describe your style. "Simplistic, when I can manage it." What is your favorite tool to work with? "The Internet." We've asked you to design a cover for Louisville Magazine that sums up the city. What would you do? "A glass of bourbon that is half-full (or half-empty)." Finish this sentence: If I weren't an artist, I'd . . . "be very confused." What's the frst piece of art you remember creating? " 'Untitled (Ashes),' 2009. Five signatures on newsprint, each fused between panels of sheet glass. As the newsprint burned, the gases were trapped and formed a bubble that encapsulated the ashes." What are you trying to say with your work? "I'm more interested in asking questions rather than stating specifcs." How and where do you get inspired? "I use the car to think through my ideas and simplify them." S ara Pitt How much time do you spend in the studio each week? "Not nearly enough." From top: Detail shot from the piece "hey boo" (two box fans, construction tape); detail shot from the piece "so breezy" (approximately 300 adhesive bandages, oscillating fan); "this is what it's like when I think of you now" (dryerase board, dry-erase marker); detail shot from the installation "everything dies (lol,jk)" (polystyrene foam, adhesive, spackle, latex paint, miscellaneous hardware).
