Jill's journey began with the most progressive form of treatment available, overseen by Janell Seeger, M.D., Medical Oncologist, Jill's "angel" and one of the four founders of Norton Cancer Institute. She underwent 16 rounds of grueling chemotherapy, 31 rounds of radiation and four surgeries including a double mastectomy. Later, there was reconstruction. During her treatment she suffered a broken rib. After her reconstruction, she endured serious complications. Still, two years later, Jill was in remission. Even at 35, her diagnosis regrettably altered to incurable stage-4 breast cancer metastasized to her bone, Jill is a survivor. According to the many digital pages written about her, Jill has kept her wit, determination and never ending smile — there has been no room for self pity. She frequently makes jokes about her baldness and lack of eyebrows and eyelashes. Friends say the room lights up upon her arrival. Her sense of humor, courage, positive attitude and inner beauty leave you with a lasting impression. She has become a credible source for educating women about breast cancer and inspiring fellow survivors to feel supported, beautiful and comfortable in their post-surgery scars. In September 2012, Jill's best friend, Nikki Closser, reached out to world acclaimed portrait photographer Sue Bryce to share Jill's story and help her message reach the masses. Sue was indeed inspired by Jill and arranged for a fve-day trip to Paris where Sue shot photos and award-winning photographer and flm-maker Hailey Bartholomew shot footage. Soon after, Sue and Hailey created the documentary The Light That Shines. Jill
