1 0 LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 5.14 FEEDBack www.jefersoncountyclerk.org Where my girls at? I was disappointed the article "News Boom on Fourth Street" (February 2014) did not feature any pictures of female stafers, especially because some of them have worked there for nearly a decade. Te pic- ture collage with the guys and the throwback font made it seem like it was the 1950s again. WFPL is such a progressive station and doing something unusual: building a newsroom and an investi- gative unit. But the frst glimpse of the article makes it seem anything but progressive. Katie Delaune Middletown Why clowns are sad I difer with your comment that, "Everybody loves the circus!" ("Te Betting Window," Febru- ary 2014). I will be picketing the circus and have for many years. Elephants are social animals and walk miles a day in search of food. Teir life in a cage and doing tricks contribute to psychological abuse, and standing on a hard ground contributes to physical problems. Are you aware of elephant sanctuaries that rescue these animals? Sheila Mead Fisherville Stay off the lawn! Should an undesirable develop- ment be proposed near land-use attorney Bill Bardenwerper's house, preservation attorney Steve Porter ("Counsel for Yesteryear," March 2014) will be the frst person he calls to challenge it! Steve Wiser Riedlonn La Ciudad de Derby Among the shops and bars on Olas Atlas, one of the busiest neighborhood streets in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, is a colorful variety of sidewalk cafes and restaurants, including Derby City Burg- ers — one block from the beach on Banderas Bay, which fronts the Pacifc Ocean. Kentuckians Walter Tomas and Carlos Avila Uribe, who met in Louisville, opened the busy cafe two years ago. Half-dozen tables outside, seating for another dozen or so inside. Gourmet burgers, fries and shakes. Tomas and Uribe teach visitors from all over the world a lesson about where Louisville is. Trow in a large photo posted on an inside wall that shows a panoramic view of Churchill Downs and downtown Louisville on a glorious, sunny Derby Day, and the story is complete.
