School Guide Listings Public Schools The data in the tables that follow is compiled by local public school districts. All data is for the 2012-13 school year unless otherwise noted. Here are definitions of the statistical categories included in the tables: Capacity: The maximum number of students a school is designed to serve, according to its academic programs. Enrollment: The number of students attending a school. Student/Teacher Ratio: A school's enrollment divided by its number of teachers. % in Advance Program: The percentage of a school's students who participate in the Advance Program. Jefferson County schools with no per- centage given do not offer advance programs. Free/Reduced Lunch %: The percentage of students who receive free or reduced-price school lunches, based on federal family-income guidelines. A higher number indicates that a school serves a greater percentage of low- income students. % Non-White: The percentage of a school's students whose ethnicity is defined as African- American, Asian-American, Native American or Other. Suspensions: The number of disciplinary sus- pensions issued during the school year at a particular school. Disciplinary suspensions are based on the JCPS Student Code of Conduct. SAT, ACT Scores (high schools only): The per- centage of the 2012 graduating class that took either of the two main college-admissions tests at a given school and the combined or composite average scores of the students taking those tests at each school. The first column of SAT scores for high schools gives combined reading and math scores; the second column lists combined reading, math and writing scores. Note on test scores: In 2012 Kentucky public schools began administering a new series of academic tests to assess student performance. These new tests, called Kentucky Performance Rating for Educational Progress, or K-PREP, replaced the former CATS tests. The Kentucky Department of Education did not release the 2012 K-PREP test scores in time to be included in this year's School Guide. We will include the K-PREP test scores for each school in the 2013 School Guide and subsequent years. Other notes: Anchorage Independent School District information can be found on page 93. Bullitt and Oldham County public schools data can be found on pages 93-94. A "-" in a data field means that the information is not available or was not provided.
