[ Circuit>>Events ] What are the odds you'll like these November events? (ODDS-ON FAVORITE) 1:1 The Boss Upside: Oh, you thought we meant that geezer Springsteen at the Yum! on the 3rd? No, no, no. We meant the Boss, aka Rick Ross, aka Ricky Ross, aka Ricky Rozay, aka something we're not comfortable printing. The human blimp of a rapper is known for this guttural grunt that sounds sort of like a mixture of the word rough and a revved Harley. Rrrough! On a side note: Next season, the author's volleyball team at Baxter Jack's is going to be called "The Rick Ross Noise." Downside: Your contact buzz is gonna make that drive back from Lexington difficult. Nov. 3. $10-$69.75. Rupp Arena, (859) 233-3535, rupparena.com. The other Boss (and the Biebs) Upside: Both have a few fans. 3:1 Downside: Neither will top what happened at Carrie Underwood's Yum! concert earlier this fall. If you haven't heard: A 12-year-old boy named Chase held up a sign asking if Underwood would be his first kiss. She brought him onstage. She said, "How we gonna do this?" "Lip to lip," he said. And they did. What's funny is Underwood bought the author's lie that he was 12 years old and named Chase. Justin Bieber. Nov. 2. $47.85-$97.45. Bruce Springsteen. Nov. 3. $107.75. KFC Yum! Center, 690-9000, kfcyumcenter.com. Exhibition at the End of the World 9:2 Upside: The Mayan calendar and the world end Dec. 21, so we think it's silly to let this exhibit run through the 29th. "Maybe one of my paintings will survive," Peggy Sue Howard says. Her 24-inch- by-90-inch "reverse" landscapes, with fuzzy foregrounds and clear backgrounds, were inspired by a time she followed a black bear into a vast meadow. Downside: "According to my astrological friends, we'll be exposed to rifts in the galaxy on Dec. 21. They'll have a straight shot at us, whoever they are," Howard says. Nov. 16-Dec. 29. Free. Zephyr Gallery, 585-5646, zephyrgallery.org A New Jennifer Lawrence flick! 5:1 Upside: Early Oscar buzz for Louisville's own Lawrence in Silver Linings Playbook, out the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Downside: Spoiler alert! Lawrence goes all Hunger Games on Bradley Cooper's character in the final scene. In other words, she kills him with a bow and arrow. Love, Loss, and What I Wore 6:1 Upside: Just know that it's inspired by the late Nora Ephron. Downside: The late Nora Ephron. Nov. 1-18. $19 or $22, The Henry Clay, 583-8222 . R. Kelly 15:1 Upside: "Keep it on the down loooooooooow." That music video should have won an Oscar. Downside: Women become pregnant the instant they purchase an R. Kelly concert ticket. Nov. 14. $49.50-$89.50. Louisville Palace, 583-4555, louisvillepalace.com. [28] LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 11.12 (LONGSHOT) Office Furniture USA annual meeting Upside: New swivel chairs! 45:1 Downside: This event is closed to the public. What do you have to hide, Office Furniture USA?!?! Nov. 11-14. Kentucky International Convention Center, 595-4381, kyconvention.org. The Betting Window >>By Josh Moss
