22 LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 8.17 LIBA Partner Pages 502fitpass.com So, it's been a really busy summer for a girl who's already very busy. Cynthia Williams is up early and on the move as she meets with private personal training clients at her home studio, encouraging them to lift weights, strengthen muscles and improve their form. She also teaches 10 group fitness classes each week at Blairwood Fitness Center. And she owns her own business, 502 Fit Pass, which is a membership-based enterprise that enables Louisville residents to work out at a wide selection of gyms, yoga studios and fitness locations around the city with just one membership. Talk about a girl who can break a sweat. Oh, and did we mention that she also got married in June in Mexico? Yeah, you're getting the picture. Williams is constantly in motion and really lives her motto: "Fit for Life." "I don't care what you do," Williams says, "I just want you to move. By changing it up and shocking your body, you constantly build your strength. When I'm 70, I don't want to be taking 15 pills and in a wheelchair. I want to be kicking it!" And that's what Williams wants for her clients and Louisville residents, too. Through her 502 Fit Pass web site, residents can buy a 5, 10, 15 or 35 class pass that they can use to access hundreds of fitness classes at more than 50 fitness centers and studios around the city. This enables people to mix it up, try new classes and meet new fitness friends without having to join multiple gyms. "One of my goals is to get people out and moving and trying out new kinds of fitness," says Williams, A Conversation with Cynthia Williams, founder and owner of 502 Fit Pass By Rachel Reynolds 38, a trained occupational therapist who has been a fitness trainer for more than 13 years. "I want to build the fitness community here in Louisville and break down some of the walls between gyms. We're all in this together." As an occupational therapist who worked in transitional care when she was right out of college, Williams saw firsthand the recovery times of people who had strokes, cardiac attacks, knee and hip replacements and other health setbacks. "High level patients who were strong and healthy would be discharged in 3-4 days versus those who had a sedentary lifestyle before they became ill or injured," Williams says. "These patients would spend 2-4 weeks in a rehab facility, if not longer." 502 Fit Pass is a win-win-win solution for Williams, gym owners and residents alike. Williams builds a successful online business; facility owners receive marketing and new foot traffic; and residents enjoy variety and flexibility in their workouts. "We market for the fitness facilities, we fill up dead space that their members aren't using, and we're generating revenue for them because Fit Pass pays gyms a negotiated fee for use of their facilities," Williams says. The 502 Fit Pass web site offers a complete schedule, profile and location of classes available including cardio, hot yoga, boxing, barre, Pilates, Jazzercise, bootcamps and many others. It also identifies locations with childcare. Members simply click on the classes they want to take, grab their sneakers and go!
