One of several Bearno's locations in Louisville. Bistro Le Relais 2817 Taylorsville Road // 451-9020 lerelaisrestaurant.com Located in a 1930s-built Bowman Field airport ter- minal, this cozy, French-in- fluenced bistro just off the tarmac is one of the city's most romantic dining spots. Live jazz on Sunday evenings. BoomBozz Pizza and Taphouse 1448 Bardstown Road // 458-8889 boombozz.com This location of the popular local pizza joint is great because its patio tables are right near the intersection of Eastern Parkway and Bardstown Road, where the weird turned pro a long time ago. Bristol Bar & Grille 1321 Bardstown Road // 456-1702 bristolbarandgrille.com After more than 30 years, this perennial Best of Louisville winner remains beloved to a diverse crowd, especially those who enjoy business power lunches. Great brunch, too. Bunz 969 1/2 Baxter Ave. // 632- 1132 bunzburgerz.com Our anaconda don't want none unless you got Bunz, hun. (Extra cheesy, like Bunz burgers.) Cafe Mimosa 1543 Bardstown Road // 458-2233 cafemimosatogo.com One of our favorite cheap meals in town: Cafe Mi- mosa's crab rangoon with General Tso's chicken and some fried rice. Just had it to cure our Derby hangover, actually. DiOrio's Pizza & Pub 919 Baxter Ave. // 614-8424 dioriospizzaandpub.com See St. Matthews entry. Dittos Grill 1114 Bardstown Road // 581-9129 dittosgrill.com Even the fussiest child can find something for dinner on the diverse menu at family-friendly Dittos. And for brunch, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays, try the chicken and waffles with blueberry citrus glaze, strawberries and whipped cream. Dragon King's Daugh- ter 1126 Bardstown Road // 632-2444 dragonkingsdaughter.com At Dragon King's Daughter, we especially enjoy the su- shi roll called, well, "Dragon King's Daughter": shrimp tempura on the inside, avo- cado and unagi (freshwater eel) on the outside, all of it drizzled with a dark unagi sauce. The Eagle 1314 Bardstown Road // 498-8420 eaglerestaurant.com In the old El Camino location, the Eagle serves — guess what — fried chicken. The Falafel House 1001 Bardstown Road // 454-4407 Go here for the falafel, gyros and kebabs, which you can wash down with a Bollywood music video. The Fat Lamb 2011 Grinstead Drive // 409-7499 fatlamblouisville.com With a rotating menu and craft cocktails, maybe The Fat Lamb can survive on the infamous corner of Grin- stead and Bardstown Road. Funmi's Cafe 3028 Bardstown Road // 454-5009 funmiscafe.com This cafe serves authentic Nigerian cuisine. Try the beef and chicken suya with a side of plaintains. Game 2295 Lexington Road // 618-1712 Where else can you find kangaroo, antelope and wild boar all on one menu? Gralehaus 1001 Baxter Ave. // 454-7075 gralehaus.com The folks who run the Holy Grale opened the Gralehaus in a building behind the bar. Instead of a bed and breakfast, they're calling it a "bed and beverage." We like the crepes and biscuit with sausage gravy. Havana Rumba Express and Tapas Bar 2210 Bardstown Road // 749-4600 Amazing Cuban food and live music, without waiting like you do invariably at the St. Matthews location. Jack Fry's 1007 Bardstown Road // 452-9244 jackfrys.com No matter how many times we eat at this local institu- tion, we can't get enough of the speakeasy vibe, or the old black-and-white photo- graphs on the walls, or the shrimp and grits, or... The Joy Luck 1285 Bardstown Road // 238-3070 thejoyluck.com We love the focused Asian menu. And the Beijing roast duck. And the inventive cocktails.
