Craft House 2636 Frankfort Ave. // 895- 9400 crafthousebrews.com A projector displays local and regional tap selections on one of the walls. The chicken wings have a satisfying char. DiFabio's Casapela 2311 Frankfort Ave. // 891- 0411 difabios.com The building is 180-some- thing years old; the Italian tradition served up here — including table salads and warm, yeasty bread — is a whole lot older. Sit on the cozy front patio if there's room. Eggs Over Frankfort 2712 Frankfort Ave. // 709- 4452 You'll have to wait for a table on the weekend at this cozy breakfast spot. Worth it. El Mundo 2345 Frankfort Ave. // 899- 9930 502elmundo.com Check out its great back patio (where meals are sometimes punctuated by the rumble of passing trains) and its "twisted version of authentic Mexican" cuisine. We crave the chipotle aioli on the fish tacos. Fork & Barrel 2244 Frankfort Ave. // 907- 3675 bethefork.com Located in the building that for years housed neighbor- hood mainstay Basa, Fork & Barrel has taken over the space with a menu that includes smoked and grilled chicken wings, parsnip soup, cornbread and buttermilk and Kentucky carp. The Irish Rover 2319 Frankfort Ave. // 899- 3544 theirishroverky.com The prices are nice, the food is way beyond standard pub fare and the atmosphere is comfortably lively. J. North End Cafe 1722 Frankfort Ave. // 896-8770 northendcafe.com It's the city's original "gourmet" breakfast spot, but the dinner menu is rave-worthy, too. There's a second North End location in Douglass Loop. Osaka 2039 Frankfort Ave. // 894-9501 Osaka is a go-to sushi retreat in the neighbor- hood. The Osaka roll has spicy crab, fried shrimp and avocado on the inside, with steamed shrimp and mozzarella cheese on top. The plate it arrives on is on fire. Pat's Steak House 2437 Brownsboro Road // 893-2062 patssteakhouselouisville.com This local time warp has specialized in steak since 1958, still served with two vegetables, a salad and hot rolls. Porcini 2730 Frankfort Ave. // 894-8686 porcinilouisville.com You might think from the Porsches and Lamborghinis parked outside this chic Italian bistro that the food and drink prices would be through the roof, but you would be wrong. Ramiro's Cantina 2350 Frankfort Ave. // 895-3333 ramiroscantina.com The front deck and patio draw crowds. Another big plus: open seven days a week. Red Hog Artisan Meat 2622 Frankfort Ave. // 384-0795 redhogartisanmeat.com The couple behind Blue Dog Bakery opened Red Hog last fall. The restaurant attached to the gourmet butcher shop has an inviting outdoor patio and a rotating menu. The pork shank will give you a new understand- ing of the description "fall-off- the-bone." The Silver Dollar 1761 Frankfort Ave. // 259-9540 whiskeybythedrink.com A cosmopolitan honky-tonk — how 'bout that? — with Buck Owens blasting from the sound system, so you'd better learn to talk loud and hear better. Nice variety on its South- ern-meets-Bakersfield menu. That includes the drinks menu.
