68 LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 7.16 BEST R A D I O T E A M F O R H U M O R O People's Choice O BEN DAVIS AND KELLY K 99.7 WDJX "My goal is to get him to laugh hard," Kelly K says of her morning show co-host, Ben Davis. "I know the difference — when he's like heh, heh, heh or when he's really falling on his butt." They've worn Depends to see if they could pee themselves, used a lactation machine on Davis, had an on-air debate about whether or not a hot dog is a sandwich (he says yes, she says no). They "tattooed" Davis' butt with a spray-painted advertise- ment for America's Window, which was on display while he walked in a parade. "That was because strippers in London were selling ad space on their butts. We raised like $1,500 or $1,600 for children," says Kelly K, who has been on the show for 17 years. (Davis joined in 2008.) Using their studio's conference-call capabilities for a bit called "You Called Me," they once got two unsuspect- ing folks — a Family Dollar manager and a barber — on the phone together, each thinking the other made the call. The fourth call: Manager: "Hello, Family Dollar. How can I help you?" Barber: "Seriously, dude. That's enough!" Manager: "Oh, my God! Are you seriously on my phone line again? Stop calling me!" Barber: "You called me! I don't know what you're point is or what you're trying to do, but…" Manager: "Listen here, Sugar! Just because you couldn't fnish college and you cut hair all day does not give you the right to be pranking me — honest-to-God, hardworking citizens that are doing their work." Barber: [Attempts to speak.] Manager: "Don't even go there! You're going to have to just shut your mouth or I'm going to have to just smack your mouth so hard your momma won't recog- nize you! Not that your momma ever did recognize you, because she probably gave you up for adoption when you were just a little kid. I bet you don't even know who your daddy is, [bleeped]!" Barber: "I do know who my daddy is." Manager: "I know who your daddy is, too! I'm your daddy, [bleeped]. Don't call back! God, people are so stupid." — Jenny Kiefer
