Special Advertising Section Kentucky Cancer Program Honors Cancer Survivors During Derby season the Kentucky Cancer Program (KCP) honors Kentuckians who have already run the race of their lives – cancer survivors. The 2012 Cancer Survivor Celebration on May 3 features appearances by fashion designers Carson Kressley and designer Christian Siriano. The celebrity duo will judge colorful, whimsical Derby hat and shoe fashion entries of cancer survivors. The red carpet competition at the University of Louisville's James Graham Brown Cancer Center is expected to be a fun and memorable experience for nearly 1,000 survivors and guests. The event, which also attracts local RIÀFLDOV DQG PHGLD FHOHEULWLHV LV held annually in conjunction with the Pegasus Parade. Texas Roadhouse generously donates signature dishes for the occasion. KCP also supports the 2012 Oaks Day "Pink Out" at Churchill Downs in which cancer survivors are honored as they parade on the track before pink-wearing fans. Churchill Downs donates a portion of the "Pink Lily" drink sales on Oaks Day to Horses and Hope to support education and screening programs for horse industry workers. Horses and Hope is a breast cancer outreach program sponsored by Kentucky First Lady Jane Beshear and KCP.
