Work hard. Then: Treat. Yo. Self. There's a spa for manicures, facials, massages and more. "It started out as a joke," Jason Spencer says of the Twitter handle @LouisvilleHumor. While he was entering a career in digital marketing and social media, a friend from Texas kept going on and on about how the Lonestar state is much cooler than the Bluegrass. So Spencer, a prideful Louisvillian, started the Twitter account. Three years later, he says, "It's interesting that there are 11,000 people that think I'm funny." (At press time, @LouisvilleHumor had almost 12,000 followers.) One recent tweet is a photo of horse trainer Bob Baffert at the Belmont with the Burger King mascot behind him. The caption: "When you win the Triple Crown, have it your way!" (Not exactly Louis C.K., but I still fnd myself chuckling more often than not.) Another reads, "Just announced: theme song for Dairy Kastle, my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard." This past winter, the "bread aisle at Kroger" won a Louisville Humor award for "best weather forecast." The tweets that garner the most attention are usually about 1) how to pronounce the city's name ("Stop trying to make Lou-ee-ville happen"), and 2) anything involving the UK-U of L rivalry ("No, you cannot burn the seats at the Yum Center like a couch"). Being so tuned in to social media helped Spencer get his current job on Humana's social media team. "When I do social for a brand, there's always a lot of strategy," the 28-year-old says. "For Louisville Humor, there's no thought that goes into it." — Mary Chellis Austin Best Twitter Jabs at the City Louisvile Humor CRITIC'S CHOICE
