Opened in July 1919 by the city-owned Louisville Water
Co. — which used the excavated soil to build berms around
the Crescent Hill Reservoir right across the street — the
huge, oval-shaped Crescent Hill swimming pool drew
a big crowd, both swimmers in tank tops and spectators
in boater hats, in this 1921 photo. Visited by Olympic
champion and Tarzan movie star Johnny Weissmuller in
the '30s, the pool remained at the site until 1953, when
its location moved north to the present site of the Mary T.
Meagher indoor pool, aka "the Bubble."

Hey, dictionary:
"Pharaoh" should be spelled "Pharoah."
Horse who wears a crown.
