LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 2.15 85 My Playlist "When You Come Back Down," by Nickel Creek "This group was the soundtrack to many days of my childhood. I am a sucker for anything with a violin and well-placed harmonies. Chris Thile's virtuosic mandolin playing is a thrill." "An Early Winter," by Loudlike "I had a blast recording violin and harmonies on this song, which I'm really proud of." "First Arabesque," by Debussy "Debussy is one of my favorite classical composers. His dreamlike soundscapes transcend reality with thoughtfulness and poetry. I have enjoyed slowly working on this piece in my free time." "Ain't Misbehavin,'" by Fats Waller, sung by Sarah Vaughan "I listen to quite a bit of jazz and love the intellectual mood this music allows me to fnd. Sarah Vaughan, like all the great female jazz artists, is not only an amazing creative improviser but has a beautiful and interesting tone. She manages to sound pure while add- ing a touch of smokiness. As a jazz singer myself, I fnd a great deal of inspiration listening to artists like her. I also love the lyrics to this tune and think the composition itself is adorable and catching. It brings me back to a very different time when rock stars were jazz artists who spent years perfecting their craft." "Can't Take It In," by Imogen Heap "From the frst moment I heard this song (on The Chronicles of Narnia soundtrack), I have loved Imogen Heap's music. This is one of my favorite songs ever. She expresses a love of existence in both her lyrics and her sound that I fnd exhilarating." "Learning to Fly," by Pink Floyd "On Feb. 21, the Pink Floyd tribute band I'm a part of is playing at the Grand Theatre in Frankfort. This is one of the songs I have the most fun performing." Caroline Yeager sings in a jazz trio at Marketplace on South Fourth Street a couple nights a week. She is also in the band Loudlike and in a Pink Floyd tribute band called Dark Side of the Wall. gocards.com
