Village 8 is charming in its predictability: popcorn machines coughing smoke, audio
just a tad scratchy. It's the loopy grandma of theaters. And we love her. On the day we
visited, Village 8's marquee advertised This Is Where I Leave You. A movie, yes. But the
title applies to the theater's white trash bin labeled LOST AND FOUND. It typically holds
toys, especially if a children's movie is playing. Most are claimed. (Have you witnessed a
four-year-old's meltdown? A drive back to the movie theater ain't no thing.) When toys
aren't retrieved, Village 8 either donates them or uses them for decoration, like the Iron
Man hanging from the ceiling in the theater's business offce. Huh, there's also a Range
Rover's keyless entry device. You'd think that'd be worth returning for. Ushers often fnd
a lot of empty liquor bottles. While that's trash and therefore not pertinent to this story:
Come on, lushes! Pick up your evidence.
VILLAGE 8
MOVIE THEATER
Take it: Not exactly keeping
in line with our theme, but we
wouldn't mind one of those giant
bags of old popcorn.
Leave it: Those Guy Fieri-style
sunglasses. Let us guess: The
owner of those came to see
Expendables 3?
Bonus: A manager at Baxter
Avenue Theatres says sometimes
ushers fnd rubber gloves. He's
not sure what they're used for.
And doesn't want to know.
