Yet many really want to restore their shape after childbirth. Pregnancy and breastfeeding can take their toll on the body, and many of these moms want frmness and fullness back in their breasts. Sometimes the hormonal changes that occur with pregnancy reduce the size of the breasts from what they once were. "In the proper candidate, the breast augmentation procedure can help the breast look fuller like breasts before the breastfeeding period," said Dr. Bradon J. Wilhelmi, board-certifed plastic surgeon with UofL Physicians - Plastic Surgery. "Breast implants can help fll out the upper part of the breast." While he performs a wide variety of plastic surgery procedures, breast augmentation is the most common. "Most of my augmentation patients have fnished having children and want to do something nice for themselves," Wilhelmi said. Dr. Wilhelmi brings a unique perspective to his plastic surgery practice because not only is he a plastic surgeon, he also is the Leonard J. Weiner Professor and Chief of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
