Waterfront Park's designer, Hargreaves Associates, thought of everything, from elaborate climbing structures (I counted 13 slides among them) to a roomy sprayground with about 80 different water jets (including seven tall and colorful spitting fsh) to rubberized footing everywhere to rain shelters to sound-dampening and sun-shielding shade trees galore to wonderful vantage points for parents and sitters with concerns about safety, security and their own personal comfort. Oh, and a hot-dog vender working out of a 15-foot 1951 Airstream trailer. This highly populated playground is a melting pot of ages, sizes, races and physical abilities — everybody happy, everybody racing around, antici- pating the next thrill. —Jack Welch URBAN PLAYGROUND Adventure Playground, Waterfront Park CRITIC´S CHOICE CRITIC´S CHOICE "You know there's no alcohol in that, right?" the bartender asks as I order the Grapefruit Fizz in the basement bar at Decca on East Market Street. Yes, I know. Here's the thing: He takes as much care making it as he would with one of the restaurant's boozier concoctions. He measures fresh grapefruit and lemon juices with a stainless-steel jigger, then adds a dash of bitters and a half-ounce of simple syrup. Tonic water flls the rest of the Collins glass. He garnishes it with a grapefruit twist. Go looking for something non-alcoholic at most bars and the best you'll probably fnd is a Coke or a tonic-and-lime, hold the gin. Not at Decca. Other options on the "Sober Cocktails" menu include the Nojito (lime juice, seltzer and fresh mint) and the Cranberry Mule (cranberry juice, lime and ginger beer). Non-drinkers who like to keep things simple can order an organic cola, ginger beer or French sparkling mineral water. No worries about hailing a cab home or a hangover the next morning. — AT NON-ALCOHOLIC COCKTAIL Grapefruit Fizz at Decca 812 E. Market St. 46-57 BOL.indd 50 6/17/14 2:12 PM
