Frank Stanley Sr. (1906-1974) edited and
published the Louisville Defender news-
paper from 1936 until his death. Fifty years
ago, son Frank Stanley Jr. (1937-2007)
recruited the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
and Jackie Robinson and led a historic
10,000-person march on Frankfort in sup-
port of a bill to end racial discrimination in
public accommodations.
