8 6 LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 3.14 food drink All of the art is by local artist Chris Chappell, whose murals can be seen around town and at places such as Hilltop Tavern in Clifton. "He's been doing these skateboards — they actually light up," co-owner Eric Morris says. The trolley-painted canvases speak to the history of the streetcar line that used to turn around at Douglass Loop. Loop 22 is the frst of the three restaurants opened by Adam Burress and Chase Mucerino with a full bar. "We just wanted some cocktails that you don't see everywhere," general manager Michael Taylor says. The fve- cocktail list includes the Catch 22 margarita, which uses house-made jalapeño-infused El Jimador tequila, and the Jefferson Jackass, a Moscow Mule with bourbon. "It's a short list that's fun, that we can master and switch up in a month or two when the weather changes," Taylor says. He has a wine background, having managed the Wine Shop on Bardstown Road, and he has worked at several restaurants around town, including the Blind Pig, Maido and Dragon King's Daughter. The menu description for an Italian red called Vinicola del Sannio Aglianico reads: "Pairing this wine with a rotisserie bird is like giving Otis Redding a microphone." 84-120 BACK.indd 86 2/20/14 12:20 PM
