Damaris Phillips, that TV camera's meant for you! You're so charming we gave you a diorama within the diorama. In August, this Jeferson Community and Technical College culinary instructor won the ninth season of Food Network's Food Network Star, earning her her own television show, Southern at Heart. Bonus? It's being flmed right here in Louisville. Another reality-show winner from Derby City? Ashley Holt won TLC's Next Great Baker. Nice work, ladies. Way to show the world that Louisvillians know and love good food. These bugs invaded our city just before the weather turned cooler. Sometime during the planning phase of this diorama, it was suggested that we include Dean Corbet's appearance with Kathie Lee on Today. So we did. Then Google informed us this happened in 2009. In 2012, that question still generated wondrous curiosity, a bug-eyed legend with no bloodline, no backstory. The mystery ended in 2013. Local artist Phillip Rodriguez was arrested for allegedly assaulting a downtown shop owner who was selling T-shirts bearing the Brrr image. The shop had been tagged with a Brrr. T-shirt sale profts went to Brightside city beautifcation eforts. Whose side are you on? Fast-casual. Not fast food. Fast. Hyphen. Casual. That's the concept KFC's testing out with its new KFC eleven (nify lowercase, guys) restaurant. Gone is the bucket of fried chicken. In its place? Flatbreads and rice bowls. So far, the Highlands restaurant serves as the sole test market for this venture that atempts to steal a bit of Qdoba's thunder.
