Jacob Heustis Jacob Heustis, 34 Favorite medium: "I like medium-large, rather than medium-small." jacobheustis.com We all fell in love with "Drool". Squirrel art rocks! So does Heustis. He's the bassist in Wax Fang, but he rocks the art world, too. What is your favorite tool? "Usually oil paint. Recently, a diamond ring." What is it you are trying to say with your work? "Money." How much time do you spend in the studio each week? "One week zero hours, the next week maybe 78." How and where do you get inspired? "When I'm driving around listening to Diane Rehm or Skrillex." Is there something about Louisville that you especially appreciate as an artist? "The rent is cheap, the summers are hot and the community is enthusiastic and supportive of the arts with that charming touch of Southern hospitality." From top: "Drool" (mixed media); "Consuelo Vanderbilt" (engraving on mirrored glass); "Repetition" (India ink on paper). 10.13 LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 53
