CHOSEN BY THEIR PEERS TOP DOCS Te results of this survey came right fom the source — the doctors themselves. We arranged for questionnaires to be mailed to the 2,300 members of the Greater Louisville Medical Society. Te survey asked: If you or a member of your family were in need of medical care or treatment, who among the Louisville-area doctors would you choose to provide medical care in the following specialties? Te responses represented all disciplines — fom primary-care doctors to allergists to vascular surgeons. Tose surveyed listed up to fve doctors, in order of preference, in the primary-care categories of pediatrics, family medicine and internal medicine. Each frst-place vote earned a doctor fve points, second-place four, and down to one point for a ffh-place vote. For the specialists, respondents were asked to list up to three doctors, with three points going to the frst preference, two to the second and one to the third. Te points were then tallied to compile the listings that follow, with top-scoring physicians listed in each specialty. Te number of doctors listed in specialties varies according to the number of doctors receiving mentions in each feld. All doctors listed on these pages received multiple mentions fom their peers. We make no claims that this is a statistically valid survey, and that's a major reason we have not atached numbers to indicate how many times each top doc was mentioned. Tere are numerous other skilled and successful physicians in the community. In the end, it's the patient's choice as to which doctor — whether identifed here or not — will provide the best care and be the best ft for an individual's needs.
