Photo by Aaron Kingsbury VE WELO www.nanzkraf.com T he secret recipe for keeping Louisville weird? Must be the assortment of oddities on display at WHY Lou Two: Electric NuLu (806 E. Market St.), which opened in March and celebrated the eighth anniversary of parent Highlands souvenir store WHY Louisville with a tribute to KFC's Col. Sanders. After owner Will Russell acquired a wax version of Sanders dressed in one of the Colonel's original white suits, a friend suggested putting the fgure on a motorized wheelchair and parading a protective "bucket" of Kentucky Colonels wearing similar suits and string ties behind it. But don't fret if you missed the inaugural March of the Colonels in June; there's plenty more wackiness on the menu because WHY Lou Two is the original location's crazier cousin. Which we didn't think was possible. Among other quirks: It boasts 25-cent electric pony rides, an antique funhouse mirror from former west Louisville amusement park Fontaine Ferry, and a marquee that says funny things like "Shirts So Good" or, during Derby, "Duuuuurrrbaaay!!!" The store's art gallery opens a new show the frst Friday of each month, including Big Lebowski-themed art in July and local folk artists C.M. and Grace Kelly Laster in August. Stop by to get your fll of Louisville curiosities, extra-crispy style. www.potbelly.com/louisville 8.13 LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 15
