54 LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 8.19 John and Dee Dee Taylor got in business out of medical necessity. John has seizures, and their journey started in 2010. Although doctors prescribed him up to 28 pills per day, John was still experiencing two to four seizures a month. Once he started taking CBD oil, freeing himself from the pharmaceutical drugs, he was asymptomatic for five years! Dee Dee reports he's only had four seizures over the last decade. She began taking the oil herself for debilitating anxiety and panic attacks and also experienced an improved quality of life. That's when this power couple decided to package their success in hopes of helping others. John co-founded Commonwealth Extracts in 2014, producing quality Kentucky hemp extract oil, which Dee Dee sells at 502 Hemp Wellness Center. She also partners with other local companies to formulate more quality items using John's extracts. Dee Dee proudly describes how John and his team set the gold standard on extraction and testing. Having a Ph.D. chemist on staff, she explains, puts Commonwealth above and beyond all other companies. She's full of gratitude for the rewarding work she's able to do, providing expert knowledge along with safe and effective alternative products to people who need them: "Our products are better and not just because I say so. They speak for themselves," she says. The Prospect Area Chamber of Commerce also speaks for the work she's doing, recently awarding her the 2019 Strong Woman Leader Award. 502 HEMP DIDN'T JUST JUMP ON THE CBD BANDWAGON Chiropractic care under a trained professional can be used to prevent injuries and help you achieve total health or wellness. — Dr. Martie Blue D.C., Wellness Unlimited If you use a full spectrum brand of CBD oil that has all the compounds including THC (even if under 0.3%), you could test positive for THC, because it can build up in your system over time.
