Co-owners Meagan Cullen and Brian Larson created a safe space for the destruction — smashers wear coveralls, face shields, hardhats, gloves and closed-toe shoes. So far, most customers have crushed computer monitors or printers provided by Smash Time, though some folks have celebrated divorce by breaking an "Our First Christmas" ornament or framed photos. "People come out of there very sweaty," Cullen says. A snow shovel scoops up the aftermath. The idea for Smash Time was born out of a bad day at school. "Brian's daughter came home and she was super-frustrated," Cullen says. "She said, 'I just want to break something.'" — Jenny Kiefer
