LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 6.19 7 DEPARTMENTS 12 | Louisville Lip 16 | Inter-office Memo Gone but not forgotten. 25 | The Bit Meet a professional rock climber addicted to the next hold, plus 21 Questions for a local woman in Hamilton, a fiber artist who sometimes sources materials from the garbage, a look inside an old five-and-dime, worm "turds," Hulkamania in the Highlands, and more. 88 | Backboard "It's just a rollercoaster." INSIDE VOLUME 70 NUMBER 6 56 Hubcaps Galore Photo by Joon Kim "I Got the Blues" is a commissioned painting Rita Cameron blazed through on May 18 in her Art Sanctuary studio on South Shelby Street, working too fast to overthink. It explores her relationship with music; she blasted the Cure and the "nice, fun, happy songs" of the Smiths while she worked. "I don't have a preconceived notion when I go in," she says. "Nothing is precious, nothing is set in stone. Everything can change." It reminded us of a city grid, perfect for the cover of our annual City Guide. "I see all my pieces like you're looking down from above," she says. "I think that comes from my affinity for landscapes." On June 13 on 97.1 WXOX-FM, Louisville Visual Art gallery director Keith Waits will interview Cameron about her process. ON THE COVER
