Ian Timothy 18, St. Xavier, senior Ian has won seven national Scholastic Art & Writing Award gold medals. In September, his claymation series, Beaver Creek, won a first prize at the Burbank International Film Festival, and he recently won first place in an international film and animation competition for high school seniors. That film festival sounds cool. I got to meet the director of The Simpsons and Disney art directors and all kinds of people. How did you get into claymation? I was 11 when I got my first camera, and I picked up a ball of clay and kinda just started rolling it around on the floor. Who has helped you with this? Local folk singer John Gage has done a character and some music for me. Steve Cooley, who's one of the best banjo players in the world, does the banjo work for Beaver Creek. Where do you want to go to college? CalArts (California Institute of the Arts). [70] LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 11.12
