"Two unrelated side chairs with upholstered backs have been transformed into host- and-hostess chairs. They tone down the formality a notch, while allowing the upholstery fabric to be seen. "The clients already owned the corner cupboard, mahogany dining room table and Venetian glass chandelier. I added a late 19th century sideboard from Wakefield-Scearce for additional serving space." "To update the six reproduction Queen Anne side chairs the clients already had, I chose Duralee Suburban fabric in Wasabi. It's fresh, sophisticated and doesn't compete with the wallpaper." "To anchor the room and emphasize the proportions, I added a Pottery Barn seagrass area rug, bordered in chocolate banding. The texture and color give the room warmth."
