"It's a jean vest my grandmother
gave me that I've sort of decked
out over the years with pins,
patches I've made, bands my dad
and friends have introduced me
to. People I'm close to like to add
their mark. One of my friends adds
a patch from wherever she goes:
St. Louis, Chicago, New York. It has
become a hodgepodge of culture.
You wouldn't know at first glance,
but I've planned where everything
goes, while still giving it that di-
sheveled look. I've had it for three
years now, so I've gotten used to
