What more could we ask for? BARS/NIGHTCLUBS Air Devil's Inn 2802 Taylorsville Road // 454- 4092 Your drink may stick to the bar at this dive, but that — and the live music — is just part of what makes the experience wonderful. Akiko's 1123 Bardstown Road // 459- 8020 Serious. Karaoke. The Back Door 1250 Bardstown Road // 451- 0659 thebackdoorlouisville.com We've been trying to get our pic- ture painted on the wall of this neighborhood bar for years. Bambi Bar 2701 Bardstown Road // 456- 9635 bambibar.weebly.com The Bambi Bar is famous as the launching pad for the Bambi Walk, which has participants down a drink at every Bard- stown Road bar (a probably apocryphal accomplishment). And, oh yeah, the kitchen's greasy burgers are delicious. Baxter's 942 Bar and Grill 942 Baxter Ave. // 409-9422 baxters942.com Great time when the cavernous bar is packed. Big Bar 1202 Bardstown Road // 618- 2237 The bar, you see, is one of the littlest, most cramped in town. Chill Bar 1117 Bardstown Road // (859) 913-8679 chillbarlouisville.com Oontz-oontz-oontz. That's the DJ. They also do karaoke and have a to-die-for patio. Cumberland Brews 1576 Bardstown Road // 458- 8727 Cumberland Brews makes its own beer (our favorites are the red and pale ales) and serves up some of the best pub food in town. The buffalo chicken sandwich is especially recom- mended. Dundee Tavern 2224 Dundee Road // 458-6637 dundeetavern.com From the outside, the bar looks more like a barn. Inside, we recommend catching a U of L game on one of the many high- def TVs and ordering a bowl of white-bean-and-ham soup with a slice of cornbread. Flanagan's Ale House 934 Baxter Ave. // 585-3700 flanagansalehouse.com Head through the courtyard in the back of this Irish pub and enter the annex building, where a DJ has turned the crowd into a sweaty dance mob. Great Flood Brewing 2120 Bardstown Road // 457- 7711 greatfloodbrewing.com This Douglass Loop spot brews its own beer and features some guest taps. Huge space, with plenty of imagery from the 1937 Flood. Hideaway Saloon 1607 Bardstown Road // 485- 0114 hideawaysaloon.com True to its name, it's in an easy- to-miss location down an alley- way. If you can find it, you'll be rewarded with good live music and a nice beer selection. Highlands Tap Room Grill 1058 Bardstown Road // 584- 5222 highlandstaproom.com Don't let the loud music and cigarettes fool you, this place actually serves really good food – till late at light. Try the pulled pork nachos or the crabby patty. Holy Grale 1034 Bardstown Road // 459- 9939 holygralelouisville.com Every time we enter this beer bar in a former church, the selection of globally sourced draft beers has changed from the last time we were here. The beer garden is where you'll be spending a lot of time this summer. Hallelujah. Kern's Korner 2600 Bardstown Road // 456- 9726 All we're saying is that if you're not a regular, the bartender's probably going to notice. It's also worth pointing out that there's a reason Kern's Korner is crowded. Left Field Lounge 2282 Bardstown Road // 690- 3750 The bartender wouldn't tell us what's in the Devil's Shot. He set a fire extinguisher on the bar, put a fireman's hat on our head, and set the alcohol ablaze. Had to suck it down through a straw. Tasted like molasses. Molly Malone's 933 Baxter Ave. // 473-1222 mollymalonesirishpub.com Grab your Guinness and climb the stairs to the outdoor patio, which offers a great view of busy Baxter Avenue on a week- end night. Nowhere Bar 1133 Bardstown Road // 451- 0466 nowherelouisville.com Dance all night.
