Project: Hearth Room

"The clock above the fireplace came from (North Carolina's) High Point Market. Its bold eight- foot, white- enamel face adds light to the room."
"I replaced the couch with a 16-foot custom sofa from the BW Collection. It's covered in vintage cognac-colored leather. Regular upholstery fabric wears out fast with the boys and the leather is distressed, so scratches won't show."
"The sofa's extra-deep back provides additional seating for entertaining. You can get 20 people around the back of this couch."
"The throw pillows are family-friendly knits. They're unpredictable and a bit edgy."
Although this Mockingbird Valley home was only three years old at project time, the hearth room was already showing wear and tear, thanks to two elementary-school-aged boys. Wooley's task: refurnish it with more durable, wear-friendly pieces and create a room that, while still elegant, would be much more livable for a young family.

"Also new to the room are the two red glazed-leather chairs with antique nailhead trim by Century. The materials are traditional, but the lines are clean and contemporary."
