136 LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 8.16 BOARD BACK Illustration Illustration by Kendall Regan by Illustration by Kendall Regan Kendall Illustration by Kendall Regan Regan Illustration by Kendall Regan Inspired by the 1851 painting Washington Crossing the Delaware (which depicts George Washington leading the Continental Army to battle during the Revolutionary War), artist Kendall Regan Kentucky-fied the piece with our state's Tea Party-leaning Army of One: Gov. Matt Bevin. Since coming into office in December he has sued Planned Parenthood, engaged in pissing matches with the Beshears, stripped the attorney general and state auditor of powers, demolished the University of Louisville's board of trustees (possibly illegally), slashed budgets, lowered the state's minimum wage for government workers, approved $18 million in tax breaks for a Noah's Ark theme park, and, like a toddler in the toy room, messed with the impressively constructed, nationally lauded healthcare system established under his predecessor. This lover of liberty is on a tear! And growing a beard that would make Noah proud! We considered several captions for this drawing, including: "Plenty of room for the 30 percent of voters who showed up to the polls last year." Our favorite? When you dismantle the healthcare system and your whole crew keels over without health insurance. USS Bevin
