FAKE OR
NULU?
$13.4 million for
beautifying sidewalks
Answer: NuLu! Trees, gardens,
cycling lanes and improved
parking are all part of the mega-
millions streetscape plan that will
soon be lavished upon 11 blocks
of East Market Street. Dollars
come courtesy of the Kentucky
Transportation Department, the
Metropolitan Sewer District and
other government sources. NuLu:
where the only thing pricier than
that $500 Art Nouveau end table
displayed in a storefront is the patch
of sidewalk that ferries passersby.
Last month: Ladonna Nicolas,
who lives in Jeffersontown,
was the frst of many readers
to correctly identify Barney
Bright's bronze River Horse
sculpture at downtown's Martin
Luther King Jr. Park, between
Sixth and Seventh streets near
Chestnut. "I had the pleasure of meeting and
working with the late, great Barney Bright — a
wonderful man and Louisville treasure," Nicolas
says. "River Horse is one of my favorites!"
