Now the Germantown restau- rant has shifted toward lunch and dinner, offering a bevy of comfort foods like decadent burgers and macaroni and cheese. The bubbly Cheddar over fuffy eggs, crispy tor- tilla chips and fresh jalapeños merit a break from a morning smoothie ritual. — MCA The Post 1045 Goss Ave., 635-2020 Just about every Friday night we show up for pizza at this popular Germantown spot. Tons of beer. The best New York-style pizza I've tasted in Louisville. Even though we go on Fridays, my cravings kick in sometime Thursday. — AM The Silver Dollar 1761 Frankfort Ave., 259-9540 Because it's usually dark and loud enough to conceal my shame about gorging on chicken and waffes, be- cause bourbon, because grease. — DJ Vietnam Kitchen 5339 Mitscher Ave., 363-7535 What it lacks in decor and ambiance, it makes up for with dishes like shrimp pho. I think I've eaten that a hundred times and it's always the same and it's always good. — AT Volare 2300 Frankfort Ave., 894-4446 I can't not mention Volare. One, be- cause of live jazz. Two, because of wine deals in the bar. (And that's the best place to hear the jazz while drinking wine.) Three, because looking at the wuol.org
