22 LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 12.15 Cher Von Plus 8 More Describe the space you're in right now. "I'm in Open Gallery, which is also where I live. It's a small community of artists co-habitating and creating." Earliest childhood memory? "The farthest back I can go is when I realized I couldn't remember the previous Christmas and told myself I wouldn't forget the one coming up. I was maybe fve." When/where are you most creative? "When everything else in my life has a semblance of balance. And in clean spaces." How'd you make your frst dollar? "When I was 10 by doing some chores around the house. Mom was trying to teach me about earning money, I guess. The more work I did, the more money I got." The weirdest place somebody has recognized you in public? "Getting recognized in the ladies' room is always a little weird. It's like, 'Oh, hey, I know you. Have a good poop now!'" Most noticeable quirk? "I refer to people as babies and talk to them like they're babies, too." Besides your current job, what's the best job you've ever had? "I liked working in a bookstore. The tasks were very simple and repetitive, so I could daydream and get a lot of thinking done." Favorite thing hanging on the walls of your home? "I recently hung up some poetry a friend of mine left on my nightstand. I like seeing his words making a trail down my wall." What's on your nightstand? "A tea mug, some tapes and lemons. Obviously I'm ready for a party." What are you wearing right now? "Whoa, this questionnaire has taken a turn!" What makes you laugh? "I like really random humor, and also subtle humor that will pass most people by." Your secret talent? "I'm really good at turning water into ice." The frst thing on your bucket list? "To sing with Bobby McFerrin." What superstition do you believe in? "I never put holy books on the bare foor. I think it's disrespectful and maybe bad luck." What movie has the greatest ending? "Probably Gozu. A full-size human man bursts out of a woman in the most traumatic way possible, and then at the end she's fne and everyone just walks down a sidewalk." Von, 27, is a musician and composer. She lives near U of L's campus. What song is stuck in your head? "'Feeling Good,' by Nina Simone." Your drink? "Mango nectar, please." What should every person try once? "An avocado milkshake." One thing Louisville is missing? "A vegetarian drive-thru restaurant!" What brings you the greatest joy? "Making music with people I love." freshboutique4girls.com Trendy, Chic and Always Fresh, our clothing runs from girls size 7 up through women's.
