LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 8.15 61 The results of this "Top Doctors" survey come right from the most knowledgeable source of all — the doctors themselves. We arranged for questionnaires to be mailed to the 2,200-plus members of the Greater Louisville Medical Society (of which 324 responded). The survey asked: If you or a member of your family were in need of medical care or treatment, who among the Louisville-area doctors would you choose to provide medical care in the following specialties? The questionnaire covered 42 disciplines — from primary-care doctors to allergists to vascular surgeons. Those surveyed could list up to fve doctors, in order of preference, in the primary-care categories of family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics. Each frst-place vote was assigned fve points, second-place four, and down to one point for a ffth-place vote. For the specialists, respondents were asked to list up to three doctors, with three points going to the frst preference, two to the second and one to the third. The points were then tallied to compile the listings that follow, with top-ranking physicians listed in each specialty. The number of doctors listed in specialties varies according to the number of doctors receiving mentions in each fel d. All doctors listed on these pages received multiple mentions from their peers. We make no claims that this is a statistically valid survey, and that's a major reason we have not attached numbers to indicate how many times each top doc was mentioned. There are numerous other skilled and successful physicians in the community. In the end, it's the patient's choice as to which doctor — whether identifed here or not — will provide the best care and be the best ft for an individual's needs. All phone numbers are in area code 502 and all addresses are in Louisville unless otherwise noted. Illustrations by Ian Klarer. TOP DOCS 2015 CHOSEN BY THEiR PEERS LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE'S
