Waterman Attorney Louis Waterman is a Louisville native, a former Jefferson Family Court Judge and a leading family law attorney in Kentucky. He graduated from University of Kentucky in 1983 and University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law in 1986. Waterman is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and a member of the Louisville Bar Association, the Kentucky Bar Association and the American Bar Association. For 28 years, Louis has been practicing family law in Jefferson County and throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He has appeared before Circuit Courts and Family Courts throughout the Commonwealth, as well as before the Kentucky Court of Appeals and the Kentucky Supreme Court. Louis' philosophy sounds simple — bring a forward-thinking, hands-on approach to the practice of family law — this philosophy and the way he interacts with clients sets him apart from other family law practitioners. Louis knows that "anger is, of course, a natural reaction for clients, but it's not much of a strategy." He works with clients until they are able to reach a decision that serves their best interests and the best interests of their families. This client centric approach is based on protecting and preserving the relationship between parent and child and the clients' future relationships with their families. "The client is the person who must continue his or her life after the case is complete," Louis explains. The primary focus of Louis' practice is divorce litigation. This includes postdivorce matters sXch as the modifcation of maintenance forcing compliance Zith terms of &oXrt; 2rders and the establishment and modifcation of child support. The practice also provides a full range of services, including consultation on prenuptial agreements, divorce, post-divorce, paternity, dependency, neglect and abuse. It's time to separate the difference between divorce attorneys.
