Street Style Eri Tagaya 28, oncology business consultant at Humana. Photographed at Fourth Street Live. Is there a dress code where you work? "I work in the Humana tower, which is probably the most formal building, but we've recently loosened the dress code. On Fridays we can wear jeans, which is exciting. Monday through Thursday is business casual. For men, that's pretty much suit and tie, without the tie." How would you describe your style? "I was born in Japan — I'm half Japanese — grew up in Europe, and I lived in California before I moved here. I like all the elements from all those places, so sometimes I'll want to be Californian and not wear makeup, and sometimes I'll want to dress up like today." What's your favorite part about your outft today? "My boots, from Ralph Lauren." What are closet essentials for a businesswoman? "A good, structured bag and a black blazer. I walk to work and back, so I spend all my 'commute' money on shoes. Sometimes I carry an umbrella. The windproof kind is good, especially for Louisville." How would you describe Louisville style? "People are really conservative here, but outside the business environment I'll see a lot of hipsters and more explorative fashion, which I always enjoy seeing." Why is it important to have a personal sense of style? "You're an individual; it's a refection of how you feel on the inside and how you want people to perceive you. It sounds maybe a little superfcial, but it's important." Photos and interviews by Amber Garvey Pretty Gritty Louisville's Street Style Blog What is your favorite season to dress for? "Fall, in San Francisco, which is really sunny and warm. You can wear boots, even though you aren't freezing." What else infuences your style? "Louisville is the most 'rural' place I've lived, so being downtown and seeing the brick and energy is good for me and justifes my wearing outfts like this." 2.14 LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 85
