What's a diorama about Louisville without skatepark kids? Random? Yes. But remember . . . no rules. Actually, their Extreme Park did make news this year. Apparently the Ohio River Bridges Project will cut of the "expert portion" of the park. So it must relocate. Its frst year under new management, the Louisville Arena Authority would like to think the KFC Yum! Center's (played here by a forgoten fax machine from our basement) fnancial woes will turn around. According to a recent LEO article, the tax increment fnance district intended to pay of the arena debt has performed horribly, neting only 32 percent of what was originally projected. This year the Metro Council passed an ordinance shrinking the TIF district. Research indicates that — go fgure — may boost revenue. 60 LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 12.13 What a year for this odd couple: Senate Minority Leader and old-school Republican Mitch McConnell and Tea Party wonder Rand Paul. One could argue that this political pairing should have Rand carrying Mitch in a Moby Wrap. But we like Mitch cuddling up to Rand in an atempt to sway Tea Party voters his way next November. According to the Courier-Journal, U of L employees have "stolen, misspent or mishandled" close to $8 million since 2008. So this year the university hired an auditor. Maybe the board of trustees could also change U of L's team nickname from the Cardinals to the Embezzlers?
