Heejung Koo 10, Bowen Elementary, ffh grade Most Likely To . . . give speeches. Heejung moved here from South Korea in second grade knowing very litle English. Now she excels in school and earned a top score in the allEnglish Advanced Placement test. How did you learn English so quickly? "Well, I listened and talked to friends a lot. The ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher and my best friend helped me a lot. I just tried to talk as much as I can." What do you do besides go to school? "That's basically all I do. I read a lot of books." What's your favorite book? "The Percy Jackson series. It's about this boy who already has two stepfathers and one real father, which is a Greek god, Poseidon. He goes on a lot of quests to save the world." Do you have any pets? "I used to have a lizard because my brother wanted one. But I don't actually have pets. I have fshes. At this point, I have a turtle. It's really hard to take care of. But I don't have a pet like a dog or cat." 56 LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 11.13
