bit the z betting window What are the odds you'll like these June happenings? 1:1 ODDS-ON FAVORITE 3:2 4:1 Sunday, June 16, is Father's Day! Upside: You forgot Mother's Day even though we Downside: Forgot again?!?! reminded you about it last month in this space. Let's try again: Father's Day is June 16. A Sunday. And Dad's easy. Just pay his admission to the track. Three bucks. Maybe slip him a twenty so he can bet. First post is 12:45 in the afternoon. You should really buy a calendar. Houndmouth Upside: The New Albany foursome will release its Downside: Your out-of-town debut, From the Hills Below the City, on June 4 and will be on Conan the following night. Cannot. Wait. "On the Road" has gorgeous harmonies between guitarist/frontman Matt Myers and keyboardist Katie Toupin. Lazy riff, just the right amount of twang. Sample lyric: "I'm going down where nobody knows me." Where is that exactly? Nowhere at all before long because Houndmouth's gonna be huge. friends are going to start telling you to check out Houndmouth. Upside: High-wheeled antique bicycles of course! Downside: Kimberly Greenwell, 46th Wheelmen National Meet who owns Single Mingle Louisville, has published The Bad Date Book. We took her to see folks pedal high-wheel bikes around the city and are assuming she'll include that experience when she writes the sequel. (Several events from June 21 to 25, including parades downtown and in New Albany and a race at Shawnee Park (kentuckywheelmen. org.)) 50:1 100:1 Crescent Hill Garden Tour Upside: The author's neighbor signed her yard up Downside: The odds are 50:1 for the tour. Tree sculpture and everything. She's retired. She mows the author's front lawn. Nice lady. because you're going to see the author's back yard, too. Majestic pile of rotting logs for a fre pit he never bought. He did plant fowers back there once. They died. Justin Timberlake Upside: JT is coming to the Yum! on Dec. 15! Downside: Already. Sold. Out. LONGSHOT But maybe an illusionist from that magic convention in town from June 14 to 16 can make more tickets appear. Or maybe an artist at Derby City Comic Con, at the convention center June 29, can draw you one.* *Damn, you followed the asterisk? Huh. Well in that case, yes, we lied about tickets being sold out. We were just hoping to kill your hopes six months out so we could hog the primo seats. And since you're the only one who followed the asterisk, the author will go ahead and say it: Justin Timberlake is magnifcent. — Josh Moss 24 LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 6.13
