He concentrates his practice in criminal defense, striving for excellence to ethically and professionally represent individuals under investigation or indictment. In the federal courts, he has defended judges, lawyers, public of��cials, business owners, licensees and citizens charged with conspiracy, racketeering, white collar crimes, tax violations, narcotic traf��cking and obstruction of justice. Since 2004 he has practiced from his Louisville of��ce. In his career of advocating the rights of the accused, Mr. Mejia has tried over 65 jury trials. He has won more than 20 not guilty jury verdicts in various U.S. district courts around the country. In the state criminal courts of Illinois and Kentucky, he has achieved not guilty verdicts in 15 murder prosecutions; reversals in six ��rstdegree murder appeals and gained not-guilty verdicts in 25 state court prosecutions for manslaughter, reckless homicide, and attempted murder.
