TOP Jimmy Beach, 46, Louisville Troy Bennington, 40, Bullitt County David Harley, 37, Louisville Has this project been more dangerous than others? "Lots of holes you can fall in." What do you make of this project? "It's a job." What would you have done to these buildings? "I plead the mfth." How long have you been doing construction? "Twenty-six years. Too long." What would you have done to these buildings? "You don't want to know." Bernie Clayton, 60, Louisville What would you have done to these buildings? "Probably tore 'em down. I think they're spending a little too much money and could put that money toward something else, in my opinion." BOTTOM Mike Moser, 59, Louisville What do you make of this project? "This was in the worst shape I've ever seen. I had to sign a release. Never done that before. Before this, I'd never seen 'em take all the noors out." Alan Lloyd, 52, Louisville What do you like about construction? "Being outside instead of being cooped up." What do you make of this project? "It's interesting, the way they've been able to save these walls. They've gutted so much of it; in some ways, it's like starting from scratch." What do you make of this project? "Usually you just take it down. This is a whole different ballgame. Some of this stuff…I don't know how to put it because somebody might not like what I say. I understand wanting to save stuff, but sometimes I think it's too much money to save something." What do you like about construction? "I like moving around. I don't think I could take an ofmce job. I got friends who don't do this kind of work, and they can't stand the weather. They freeze to death. My son is a painter, and he does construction, too. A lot of the time he's inside." Do you rag on him? "Little bit." 42 LOUISVILLE MAGAZINE 2.13
