Too many dainty bottle openers out there.
That is to say: A plastic one shaped like a
shark, which a co-worker brought back from
an exotic vacation, split in half after one
failed attempt to uncap a cold one. That's
why we like this cast-iron bottle opener that
looks like a crescent wrench. It means
business. Sturdy in your hand, you know?
We paid seven bucks for it at a store called
Peace of the Earth (801 E. Market St.), which
also sells, uh, environmentally friendly, handmade soaps and candles and lotions. Bottle
openers, too? "Why do we carry it? Because
it's really cool," owner Leslie Bowers says.
"It's a bottle opener that looks like a wrench."
We'll drink to that.
